Colac Plant Electrical Installation 

In July 2023, Universal Project Group director Geoff Williams commenced work with AKD on this project while he was still a member of his former company Vic Tech. We began working with AKD Softwoods to support the Electrical and Instrumentation installation of their new Dry Mill facility. The scope included both greenfield installations across the grading, sorter, trim line, and stacker areas, as well as brownfield tie-ins for the existing grading systems, scan eye, and wrap & strap sections. Our team also provided weekend support for the installation of a new 22kV transformer, LV switch room, and submain feeds to various MCCs, including terminations.

Key works completed on-site included:
• Full cable ladder and tray system installation
• Conduit installations for motors and field devices
• Mounting and wiring of PLC panels, field panels, and control consoles
• Power and VSD cable installations with motor connections and terminations
• Installation and termination of process switches, sensors, stop buttons, and gate switches at PLCs
• Cat6 cabling and terminations
• SDI mains and ladder installation from new MCC to field panels
• CCTV system setup
• High bay lighting installation throughout the new facility
